Atom Hoteles Socimi announces the imminent opening of the Gran Hotel La Florida
Atom Hoteles and Sunset Hospitality are finalizing the last phase of the transformation of the Gran Hotel La Florida, which is scheduled to reopen under the METT Barcelona brand in September. The joint investment in this iconic five-star Grand Luxury hotel, one of the architectural landmarks on the slopes of Tibidabo, amounts to €15 million, co-invested by the SOCIMI and the operator
Atom Hoteles Socimi acquired the hotel, along with the nearby Miramar, in January 2024. Since then, Sunset Hospitality has taken over operational management and, in collaboration with the GMA team, designed the renovation plan, which began in January 2025. The building has remained closed since then to carry out a full-scale refurbishment of its 70 rooms and suites. The “Design Suites” now feature private terraces with pools and outdoor showers, while the rest of the rooms open up to panoramic views of the city skyline, gaining both spaciousness and natural light.
The ground floor has been reimagined with new dining areas and gastro bars, while the spa and elevated pool club with jacuzzi offer a wellness oasis with panoramic views. Every corner of the hotel is designed to blend historic elegance with contemporary comfort, creating an experience tailored to the most discerning traveler.
At the same time, the necessary structural improvements have been completed to preserve the hotel’s original 1924 modernist silhouette. Electrical, HVAC, and accessibility systems have been upgraded to ensure operational efficiency and guest comfort. The result is a fusion of Tibidabo’s original architecture with a unique design concept, enhancing the hotel’s value proposition in the luxury segment.
On July 14th, final financing of €3 million was secured with Kutxabank, in addition to the initial €12 million credit line. The financing agreement has a 14-year term under favorable conditions for Atom Hoteles, referenced to six-month Euribor plus 100 basis points. This financial closure completes the capital structure required to guarantee the project’s quality and long-term operational viability.
With renovations nearing completion, the hotel will be operated by Sunset Hospitality Group, while GMA will manage the capital investment, ensuring strict compliance with the business plan and the high standards of quality defined from the outset.
This project exemplifies Atom Hoteles’ philosophy of combining heritage preservation with innovation, all supported by a solid financial structure adapted to current market conditions. The synergy between investor and operator reinforces the project’s feasibility and consolidates the SOCIMI’s position as a long-term institutional owner committed to enhancing the value of prime assets in leading urban destinations.
