Atom Hoteles completes the comprehensive renovation of Hotel Meliá Valencia
Atom Hoteles SOCIMI has completed the refinancing of the debt linked to Hotel Meliá Valencia and secured the capex required to finish its repositioning, raising €32.46 million to replace the previous facility, which had an outstanding balance of €22.46 million. The new financing has been agreed with Banco Sabadell on a seven-year term at a margin of Euribor + 0.75 %.
The company is capitalising on lower interest rates, the strong operating performance of its portfolio and its excellent credit rating to extend maturities and cut the annual cost of debt, while strengthening long-standing relationships with the banks that support its business plan. Banco Sabadell has granted preferential qualitative terms that underscore the firm’s financial strength.
The ambitious repositioning plan began in 2022 with the modernisation of all public areas and a full transformation of the lobby, which now houses a sophisticated restaurant and bar. During the same phase, the exclusive The Level rooms and suites were completely redesigned and an executive lounge was launched for guests seeking an extra touch of distinction. The project now enters its decisive phase: refurbishing the remaining rooms, including all suites and the majestic 135 m² Penthouse, an array of facilities that—combined with the hotel’s capacity for large events—make it a unique benchmark in Valencia.
At the same time, the hotel will carry out a comprehensive overhaul of its MICE facilities incorporating state-of-the-art technology, new finishes and cutting-edge connectivity solutions. The convention centre, configured into 27 meeting rooms with a plenary hall for 800 delegates, can host concurrent events for up to 3,000 attendees, confirming Meliá Valencia as the city’s leading conference hotel, one of Spain’s finest and a clear reference point on the European stage.
Guest experience will reach genuine five-star standards with a recently expanded spa and the arrival of Oxean Fitness, the hotel’s new wellness flagship. This boutique centre will be laid out across three purpose-built zones: a Pilates Reformer studio; a Barre room that blends the discipline’s technique with functional and strength training; and a fully equipped gym with the latest technology for personalised programmes developed by trainers, physiotherapists and nutritionists. The offer is rounded out by a revamped Varsovia: led by Borja Cortina—named Spain’s best bartender in 2015 and whose design was nominated in 2023 for world’s best cocktail bar—it will unveil a cutting-edge menu that raises the craft of mixology. Meanwhile, the iconic rooftop pool and solarium will feature a refined dining space designed to make the culinary experience as memorable as the panoramic views.
Atom Hoteles remarks:“This transaction confirms the financial sector’s confidence in our value-creation model, enabling us to consolidate a portfolio of prime assets and bring to market a top-tier property, fully refurbished and ready to compete with the best convention hotels in Europe.”
