The rebirth of an icon: Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá reopens its doors
The essence of the most sophisticated Palma returns on March 31 with the reopening of the Victoria Gran Meliá Hotel.
GMA, manager of the investment vehicle Victoria Hotels & Resorts, is leading the transformation of the emblematic hotel with an investment of close to 12 million euros.
The project represents a new milestone in GMA’s strategy of repositioning iconic assets, raising the standard of Palma’s hotel offerings.
Gran Meliá accompanies this reopening with its first campaign created with Artificial Intelligence, rescuing the visual legacy of the hotel in its golden age.
Palma’s elegance and social splendor return with the long-awaited reopening of the Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá. This March 31, the iconic hotel reopened its doors after a meticulous renovation that pays homage to its legacy and projects it into the future. With an investment of almost 12 million euros, this ambitious project has been led by Victoria Hotels & Resorts, the investment vehicle that owns the hotel, promoted and managed by GMA and participated by Bankinter Investment and Meliá Hotels International.
More than a simple renovation, this is a strategic repositioning that restores the Victoria to its place as the epicenter of Palma’s cultural, urban and social life. An effort that reflects GMA’s vision to enhance the value of unique assets through active, long-term management.
Opened in the 1920s as Villa Victoria, the hotel was born as the exclusive extension of the legendary Gran Hotel de Palma. It was known for being a pioneer of luxury on the island and a great classic of the city of Palma, a refuge for the local and international elite. Witness of the most sophisticated nights and meeting point of artists and personalities that defined the golden age between the 50s and 70s.
After a complete search of graphic material of the hotel of those years, Gran Meliá has managed to bring to life everyday scenes of the hotel where guests and workers reflect the lifestyle of the Golden Age of Palma, thanks to Artificial Intelligence, being the first campaign of the Gran Meliá brand that has used this tool. Starting from the original photos, AI has been used to revive the glamour, elegance and enjoyment of the small pleasures of the era.
An urban hotel that beats to Palma’s rhythm
This year the Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá recovers its splendor combining history and modernity in a contemporary luxury experience. Every corner of the hotel has been carefully restored with the great work of the architectural firm ASAH led by Alvaro Sans and Adriana Sans, to offer guests the highest level of comfort and sophistication. It has a total of 171 rooms, all renovated to reflect an elegant and contemporary design, with privileged views of the port of Palma and its cathedral.
The reopening coincides with the final preparations to welcome the renovated Paseo Marítimo de Palma, a project that promises to become a new symbol of the city and that will reinforce the hotel’s role as a reference point for an emblematic Mediterranean destination and a revitalized Palma.
The hotel’s rebirth would not be complete without the inauguration of the Victoria Grand Café – a reference to Grand Hotel Villa Victoria – a new gastronomic space that celebrates enjoyment. Open all day, the café offers a culinary proposal with local products through a versatile menu ranging from relaxed breakfasts to light dinners. Its renovated terrace recovers the prominence of yesteryear, inviting locals and visitors to rediscover the pleasure of socializing in a cozy environment.
In addition, the hotel not only invites relaxation, but also proposes a connection to the vibrant life of Palma through art and culture. The Hotel Victoria provides a viewpoint overlooking the city and has a strong connection to this destination, offering guests the enjoyment of exclusive local experiences, from tours of contemporary art galleries to gastronomic tours of the city’s commerce. In short, it seeks to become a space of cultural activity that attracts the local community, for which it has created alliances with local partners such as the Paco de Lucia Festival.
This new chapter of the Hotel Victoria Gran Meliá consolidates it as much more than an accommodation, it is a living tribute to the history of Palma. The city recovers a place where luxury and history meet to create unforgettable experiences.
